National Framework for Social Prescribing in Wales
The National Framework for Social Prescribing in Wales was introduced in December 2023 as part of the Welsh Government’s Programme for Government commitment to create an all-Wales approach. It provides a shared vision and consistent foundations for social prescribing across Wales, supporting practitioners, guiding quality and outcomes, and strengthening the role of community-based support. The Framework brings together clear policy direction, practical tools, training and guidance to help social prescribing continue to grow safely and effectively – while allowing communities the flexibility to deliver what works best locally.
Showcase
The National Framework for Social Prescribing Showcase will take place on 10 March 2026 at The Angel Hotel, Cardiff. This one-day event will celebrate the impact of social prescribing across Wales, highlighting community-centred approaches that empower people and communities to take control of their wellbeing. It will showcase Welsh innovation and the strength of collaboration across health, social care, voluntary and community sectors, while sharing evidence, case studies and lived experiences that demonstrate real-world impact. The event will also support and empower practitioners through learning linked to the Competence Framework and Skills & Knowledge Programme, promote inclusive and bilingual access, and inspire attendees to take forward practical tools and learning into future practice and policy.
